Blacklight tapestry "Cosmic Temple: Mahakala Waterfall"
My latest creation, "Mahakala Temple," is a continuation of the "Cosmic Monks Gathering" theme. If there are cosmic monks, then they must also have a cosmic temple, and that was the inspiration behind this piece. While I didn't have a complete idea for the composition initially, I had previously explored the concept of a mystical ashram in my works "The Architect" and "The Alchemy." In both of those pieces, I explored the fusion of opposites, such as the northern and southern forests, fire and water, night and day, the Sun and the Moon, and the flow of time frozen in eternity. I've been developing this idea since 2018, and I returned to it in the summer of 2021. I began drawing it in August, and eventually, it evolved into a real "FLOW OF TIME."
The Mahakala Falls represents the cosmic flow of time through all forms of the world. It washes infinity, nourishes the roots, and refreshes the buds of the Universal Lotus. "Mahakala" is one of the names of the Creator in Sanskrit, which, when translated, means "Great Time." The stream's source is the first sound of creation, "ॐ AUM." It falls directly onto the Shivalingam, the image of the formless Creator. Cooled by the reflection of the Moon and warmed by the Sun's rays, it flows through everything and fills the waters of the World Ocean. At the bottom of the World Ocean, we find the Sri Yantra, the universal form of all forms, guarded by intelligent snake-like creatures known as nagas.
In the center of the composition, we see the adepts of the Great Flow of Time guarding the holy wheel of samsara, from which the stream falls into the center of Sri Yantra.
